Jakarta to Expand Mass Tranportation

VIVAnews - The Jakarta administration is focusing on the development of mass transportation to smother traffic congestion, according to Jakarta Administration Chief of Public Information Division, Cucu Ahmad Kurnia, today, Feb 22.

The Jakarta administration will promote mass transportation in phases of which TransJakarta is one of the examples.

TransJakarta is viewed as suppressing the number of private vehicles on the streets of Jakarta.

The Jakarta administration looks at a chance to link TransJakarta's lines to Bekasi and Depok.

"We're all prepared," he said.

The Jakarta administration expects Bekasi and Depok can make available such supporting infrastructure as road.

"The evaluation is taking place. We're hoping that the project will be started in 2010 or 2011," he said.
