Festival of Hindu Arts Held in C Java

VIVAnews - Starting today, Indonesian disciples of Hinduism will participate in the Sacred Art Festival of Hinduism in Solo, Central Java. The festival, which will be taking place on June 15th-17th, will present sacred dances performed during Hindu rituals by the representatives of ten provinces of the archipelago.

Chief of the festival committee, Sunarto, said prior to the sacred dances festival, a carnival showcasing the cultural products of each participating provinces will be held.

"The carnival will take the route of between the Square of Kota Barat and the City Hall, covering four kilometers of distance," said Sunarto.

"Traditional dances from various provinces will also be performed during the opening ceremony," said Sunarto.

Sunarto claimed that it will be the first festival on Hinduism ever held. In the future, the event will be taking place once every three years in different places. The festival is expected to help improve communications among the disciples of Hinduism in Indonesia.
