Inflation Rate in 2010 Reaches 6.95 Pct

VIVAnews - The inflation rate in December sharply soared by 0.92 percent mainly due to the increase in food prices along December of 2010.

"It was beyond our expectation," said Chief of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Rusman Heriawan, in Jakarta, today, Jan 3.

Given the percentage, calendar year inflation rate (January-December) of 2010 reached 6.95 percent while the year-on-year inflation rate hit 6.9 percent. Core inflation along December of 2010 touched 4.28 percent.

Out of 66 cities, only one city, Sorong that is, that recorded deflation at 1.3 percent. The highest inflation rate was recorded by Lhokseumawe, Aceh, by 2.97 percent; Sibolga, 2.94 percent; and lowest inflation rate was at Singkawang at 0.11 percent.
