VIVAnews - The Central Java Police said in a statement that the raid against an Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) of Al Ma'hadul Islam in Kenep Village, Beji, Pasuruan, East Java, went unplanned. The attack was pointed out as a pure crime.

"The riot was not neatly organized such as that in Temanggung," said Chief of East Java Police Department, Ins. Gen. Badroddin Haiti today, Feb 16.

Badroddin said the instant storming was initiated from taunts thrown by both parties after they finished playing futsal.

"The insults were resulted in stone throwing on the pesantren building," he said.

During a meeting with Pasuruan clerics, Badroddin stated the clerics across East Java agreed to safeguard the province and control their followers.

The stone throwing took place at 2 pm, incited by men riding around 100 motorbikes. "They penetrated the building, breaking the windowpanes, and damaged other facilities," spokesperson of the pesantren told VIVAnews yesterday, Feb 15.
