VIVAnews – The police has been coordinating with China’s Interpol and 177 embassies of foreign nationals who were declared suspects in cybercrime cases.

The head of Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Insp. Gen. Sutarman, via a text message explained that the Immigration officers were still interrogating and collecting the data of all the suspects.

“When all the process of data collecting is done, we will deport them by submitting the evidence to China’s police,” said Sutarman today.

The chase for the fraud suspects was started after the request of arrest from China’s and Taiwan’s polices.

The suspects used Internet connection from Indonesia to contact their victims who were located in China, Taiwan, Philippines and Vietnam. The culprits sometimes pretended to be some officials and extorted the victims.

The arrest was done in South Jakarta, North Jakarta, West Jakarta, Bekasi quarters and in Tangerang regency, Banten province. The suspects lived in groups and installed broadband Internet connection with large capacity so as to smoothen their act.

Out of the raids, the police confiscated 121 telephones, tens of laptops, communication radio, passports, 24 Chinese and Taiwanese identity cards, 28 Chinese credit cards, cash in Dollar and Rupiah, five cameras, and lists of the victims’ phone numbers.
