VIVAnews - The central government urges Jakarta to suspend city development as an anticipation of the classic uncontrolled urban drift issue.

Spokesperson of the National Development Planning Agency, Max H. Pohan said three to five years are deemed sufficient for the delay.

New shopping mall projects are listed as one of the recommendations as regards the suspension.

"Shopping mall construction, which drives urbanisation, should be introduced to a moratorium," he said today.

The 3-5 years of moratorium period is expected to fix up infrastructures such as roads.

In addition, Max said the central government should also draw a plan to develop more provinces.
