VIVAnews - Directorate General of Air Transportation suspends the operation of PT Nusantara Buana Air (NBA), owner of the crashed Casa 212 airplane, starting from 4 October 2011, following the current accident which killed 18 crews and passengers of the aircraft on Bahorok Mountains, Sumatra.

NBA Safety Manager, Robur AD Rizalianto, said the company is not against the decision. "We as airline operator obey the air transportation authorities," he said.

Robur said the suspension is only aimed at the aircrafts flying through pioneer routes. "We still have four other airplanes to make artificial rains. Pilots can fly other aircrafts," he said.

Earlier, Director General of Air Transportation, Herry Bakti, said NBA violates a number of aviation rules set by the government.

The Casa 212, carrying 14 passengers and four crews, left Medan city in North Sumatra bound for the nearby province of Aceh, before losing contact with air traffic control on 29 September 2011. All crews and passengers were found dead.
