VIVAnews - The National Statistics Agency (BPS) said that the Indonesian economy is slowing down despite its slight growth due to the global economic downturn.

"A dip in global economy has affected our exports," said BPS spokesperson, Slamet Sutomo, on Monday.

Slamet said the exports in third quarter, for example, grew 5.2 percent at Rp300.2 trillion, a decrease compared to second quarter which rose 7.2 percent.

The growth of imports in third quarter only grew 2.4 percent, lower than third quarter at 6.5 percent.

Year-on-year growth of third quarter's GDP hit 6.5 percent.

State spending decreases from 26 percent in second quarter to 10.6 percent in third quarter.

"Our economy is mostly supported by domestic sector. Although global economic downturn is on the scene, the economy is still growing," he said.
