Flooding in Bali, Hundreds of Homes Affected

VIVAnews - Flood hits Denpasar, Bali, on Tuesday night, inundating hundreds of homes. A resident was reportedly washed away by the strong current and is still missing.

The victim was Mohammad Alvin, 20, living on Jalan Nusa Kambangan, Denpasar. Alvin floated down the river as he was walking pass a bridge on Jalan Pulau Biak. "At that time, the bridge collapsed due to massive rainfalls," said a local authority.

Putu Anom Agustina, spokesperson of Bali government, said 135 homes were flooded, most of which are situated in Pulau Biak, West Denpasar.

The flood causes 81 families to take refuge, while on the other hand bridges, roads and other infrastructures are damaged.

"The refugees have returned to their homes," she said.
