Russia Hands Three Sukhois to Indonesia

VIVAnews - The Russian government officially hands three Sukhoi SU-30MK2 jet fighters to the Indonesian government outside the Galaktika building at the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Monday, Feb. 2.

Head of Public Relations at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Maj. Sus Muliadi said the delivery is symbolically represented by the handing a log book by the Russian Ambassador for Indonesia, Alexander Ivanov. Secretary General of the Department of Defense, Lieut. Gen. Syafrie Syamsuddin, received the log book representing the Indonesian government.

The jets were then handed over to the Indonesian Air Force, represented by Deputy Chief of Indonesian Air Force Air Marshall Wardjoko. "Therefore, the jets officially belong to the Indonesian Air Force," said Maj. Sus Muliadi.

Indonesia has seven units of Sukhoi jet fighters. Four out of the total amount will be in operation at Sultan Hasanuddin Air Base. It is planned that the newly-handed Sukhoi will also be stationed in Sultan Hasanuddin Airport.
