VIVAnews - Chief of National Police, Gen. Timur Pradopo, said the authorities had handled the massacre over villagers in South Sumatra and Lampung in line with the procedures. Following the past incident, General Timur said police had come to both scenes to take security measures.

"Police might have arrived at the scenes after the incident took place," he said on Wednesday, Dec 14.

The said incidents occurred in Mesuji Subdistrict, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra and Mesuji Regency, Lampung Province. The first Mesuji conflict (South Sumatra) broke on April 21, 2011, while the second one (Lampung) fell on November 11, 2011.

Timur said, the South Sumatra Mesuji case has been brought before the court. "The dead victims in the South Sumatra Mesuji case reached seven," he said.

"Six suspects have been put to trial," he said.

When asked whether or not mass decapitation was committed, Timur was reluctant to answer.

"There was riot. People died on the scene. Court sessions will reveal whether or not there was beheading," said Timur.
