VIVAnews - Directorate General of Underage Children (PAUDNI) urges Ministry of Culture and Education to issue policies which recommend schools to stop making requirements over enrollees to pass tests on reading, writing and making math calculations.

Commission for the Protection of Indonesian Children (KPAI) is in full support of the policy. "KPAI sides with the policy," said KPAI commissioner, Badriyah Fayumi, on Monday, Feb 20.

The policy, Badriyah said, has answered to the anxiety crept up in teachers and parents' minds on the requirements applied by schools.

According to Badriyah, children under the age of seven are actually not yet capable of making analyses over abstract issues.

The monitoring is specifically implemented to state-run elementary schools.
