VIVAnews – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jero Wacik, said every foreign oil & gas company operating in Indonesia must comply with four pillars of the industry.

He said the said elements are as follows: supporting economic growth, creating job opportunities, eradicating poverty, and looking after the environment.

“If such elements as mentioned are denied, they may leave Indonesia,” said Jero Wacik in his speech at the 10th Anniversary of Oil and Gas Regulator (BP Migas) in Jakarta, on Monday.

Wacik said the whole world is currently taking an interest to invest in Indonesia. Some directors of oil & gas companies have met him for talks and expressed interest to keep on investing in Indonesia.

However, the teamwork between BP Migas and the government should be improved in efforts to wipe out criticism saying that the oil and gas regulator is no longer important.

“If there’s any voice that declares that a shutdown should take place over BP Migas, then there should obviously be certain reason behind it. If there’s any shortcoming, it should be fixed immediately,” he said.
