Gold Mines in West Lombok to Be Shut

VIVAnews - West Lombok administration will shut gold mines located in Sekotong Village, West Lombok since they are deemed illegal and damages nature.

In the future, either companies or individuals having official certificates issued by West Lombok administration can manage the mines.

For the time being, hundreds of illegal miners operating at six mining spots in Sekotong. In fact, they have gone further into the forest.

People started to dig gold in the area since early 2008. Earlier, the mines were organized by PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara.
