VIVA – Google Maps officially launches a new feature for vehicle users in Indonesia. This feature, which will be available for both Android and iOS users and it will assist toll road users in getting an estimated cost for using the freeway services.

The announcement was made directly by Google Maps through a twitter account of @Googlemaps on June 13, 2022. This tweet said that Google Maps launches a new feature for people that they can check the estimated toll prices.

“For the planner friend: this new feature is for you. Now when you’re planning trips big and small, you can check estimated toll prices before you pick a route—and spend what you save on road snacks.” Wrote @Googlemaps on twitter account.

It was also said by the community manager in his upload on the Gmaps Community blog, Friday, June 17, 2022.

"To help and make it easier for users to decide between roads and regular roads, we estimate toll prices on Google Maps for the first time," he explained.

It's very easy to see toll rates through Google Maps, the way is the same as before, which is to adjust the location points that have been set through the location settings, then open Google Maps, type the destination location in the column provided, and make sure the route is a toll road and the toll rates can be seen.

He continued that users will see the estimated toll price to their destination before starting navigation thanks to reliable information from the local toll authority.

This feature will probably be present in the next few weeks and thus begin to be felt by Google Maps users.

More detail about this feature, users will be able to see the choice of payment methods whether to accept cash or have to use e-money. The price will also be adjusted according to the payment method used by the user of the feature.

Options for routes on Google Maps such as "Avoid toll routes" or "Avoid flyovers" are also still provided by Google to continue to accommodate users who avoid toll roads.

Besides in Indonesia, this feature will also be available on more than 2,000 roads in the United States (US) and India. Google also plans to expand the use of this feature to other countries in the next few months.
