VIVA – Dorna Sports has visited India and met several local authorities. The MotoGP commercial rights holder wants MotoGP races to take place in India or the biggest market in Asia.

"India is a very large country and market, and one that is important for the two-wheel industry and MotoGP as a sport," CEO of Dorna Sport, Carmelo Ezpeleta said in an official statement on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.

Ezpeleta has traveled to India to meet potential promoter Fairstreet Sports in New Delhi, the city where MotoGP is being targeted.

The Dorna Sports delegation also visited Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, where the MotoGP circuit was built, to meet local authorities such as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister; Yogi Adityanath and Industry Development Minister; Nand Gopal Nandi.

"This championship has a huge fan base and being able to hold a MotoGP event in India will be a great spectacle for our fans and at the same time allow us to develop this sport in the region," Ezpeleta remarked.

At the same time, Adityanath added that Uttar Pradesh would be proud to host the world-class event in the future.

"Not only will this revitalize the hospitality and tourism sectors, but it will also bring UP to a global platform. Our government will provide the support needed to make this event a huge success.

As known, not long ago, Dorna Sport and Saudi Motorsport Company officially signed a memorandum of understanding MoU to hold MotoGP in Saudi Arabia.
