Five Cursed Countries After Winning the World Cup

Unfortunately, at the 2014 World Cup, Spain, which was managed by Vicente del Bosque, was destroyed. Besides losing to the Netherlands 1-5, Spain also lost 0-2 to Chile. Despite a 3-0 win over Australia, La Furia Roja still failed to qualify for the last 16 of the 2014 World Cup.

2. German National Team

Germany won the 2014 World Cup after a 1-0 win over Argentina. The result was Germany's second 1-0 win over Argentina in a World Cup final, having previously served at the top of the 1990 World Cup.

After becoming champions in 2014, Germany was devastated at the 2018 World Cup. From three matches in the group stage, Joachim Low's squad only scored three points. Winning 2-1 over Sweden, Germany lost 0-1 to Mexico and lost 0-2 to South Korea.

1. Italy National Team

Italy came out as the 2006 World Cup champion. However, in the next edition, the 2010 World Cup, Italy fell out of the group phase. Italy which was being taken care of by Marcelo Lippi was only in one group with Paraguay, New Zealand, and Slovakia.

As a result, Italy sits as the caretaker with only two draws from three matches. Italy drew 1-1 with Paraguay and New Zealand and lost 2-3 to Slovakia.

It turned out that Italy's misfortune did not end there. Previously, Italy had been eliminated in the group phase of the 1950 World Cup, despite being a champion in the 1938 World Cup.
