VIVA – WhatsApp recently released an update for the app on Apple’s iOS operating system, which allows users to multitask while making video calls.

In the version 23.3.77 update, WhatsApp for iOS is equipped with iOS Picture-in-Picture (PiP) capabilities so that users can make video calls while doing other activities on the phone without stopping the video.

"With support for iOS Picture in Picture (PiP), you can now multitask while making WhatsApp (video) calls without your video stopping," WhatsApp said in an explanation on the WhatsApp iOS application page on the App Store, as quoted on Tuesday.

WhatsApp also added new capabilities in the update in addition to PiP, namely users can add captions or explanations when sending documents. The platform also added support for long group names and descriptions, making it easier for users to provide descriptions of their groups.

Users of Meta Platforms' instant messaging app can also now create personal avatars and use them as stickers or profile pictures. Simply tap Settings >> Avatar to start the feature.

Previously, WhatsApp brought several updates for users to be able to better enjoy statuses either shared by themselves or statuses from other users in the application.

WhatsApp Status service is known as a feature for sharing short updates with contacts and close friends. It will disappear within 24 hours and can be in the form of photos, videos, GIFs, text, and many others when it has been shared. After the update, WhatsApp provides privacy settings so that users can choose who can see their status.

Users will go to the main settings (default) on the next status. The update also applies to statuses in the form of voice messages, WhatsApp provides a maximum duration of 20 seconds. WhatsApp also introduced a new way to respond to statuses.

After that, users must use the latest version of WhatsApp app 23.3.77 from the App Store to be able to use these new features.
