Jakarta – The Indonesian Manpower Ministry has a high commitment to tackling tuberculosis (TB) in the workplace as regulation number 13 of 2022 concerning Tuberculosis Management.

"This regulation of Manpower Minister was issued as a form of our desire to eliminate tuberculosis in the workplace," Minister Ida Fauziyah said at the Dialogue on Uniting Steps in Curbing TB in Indonesia on Tuesday, Jakarta.

Minister Fauziyah stated that the Manpower Ministry has carried out a series of activities; socialization, and conducting TB case finding in the workplace by screening for early Tuberculosis symptoms using a form based on the Ministry of Health's standards in companies in several regions.

The Minister also invited employers and workers to have more awareness about the dangers of Tuberculosis. This is because one of the most effective Tuberculosis transmissions could happen in the workplace.

"Now, what we need to build is awareness because tuberculosis is an old disease. So, people think this disease no longer exists," she said.

"In fact, Tuberculosis in Indonesia is the second largest after India. So, this is what we must be aware of workers,"

For this reason, Minister Fauziyah advised employers and workers to pay more attention to healthy living behavior and clean workplaces, to prevent Tuberculosis disease in the workplace.
