Jakarta – The Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno stated that his ministry will collaborate with various travel associations and online travel agents to offer tourism package promotions to boost domestic tourist arrivals.

"We will collaborate with Astindo (Association of Indonesian Travel Agents). They will also prepare their promotional packages," the Minister said after the kickoff event of Proud of Indonesian Products (BBI) and Proud of Tourism in Indonesia (BBWI) in Jakarta on Monday

"Online travel agents such as Jejakin, Jalanin, Traveloka, Tiket.com, they are also preparing their promotional packages," Minister Uno added.

In addition, Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is preparing regular train promo packages for travel from Monday to Thursday on all routes with discounts of 10-20 percent to support the Proud of Tourism movement in Indonesia.

"The days were chosen because the occupancy rate of trains is relatively low," the Minister informed.

Meanwhile, Minister Uno admitted that airplane ticket prices are still high and remain a big challenge in boosting tourism in Indonesia.

The Minister said that the solution to overcome this problem is by increasing the number of flights and aircraft in Indonesia.

"We ask for support for air transportation because we are heavily complained about ticket prices. However, this is not only happening in Indonesia, but worldwide,"

The government targets domestic tourist trips to reach 1.25-1.5 billion trips in 2024. Meanwhile, the turnover in the tourism sector is targeted to reach IDR3,000 trillion and transactions in the creative economy products amount to IDR1.187 billion.
