VIVAnews - Vice President Jusuf Kalla opened the 2008 Indodefence Expo and Forum at Halim Perdanakusuma Airports, Jakarta, today, 19 Nov. The event is sponsored by the Department of Defense. As many as 337 companies from 37 countries participate in the event.
Defense Minister Juwono Sudarsono and Indonesian Military Commander Djoko Santoso accompanied Jusuf Kalla in the opening ceremony.
According to Kalla, the world-class Indodefense event is made possible by virtue of cooperation and participation of various parties. He said, "We all realize that this is not a very pleasant time in history due to the current condition of global economy."
However, Kalla requested that all parties should always be prepared, including the Indonesian Military and the Department of Defense, concerning mainly with main armament system.
According to Sudarsono, the event is aimed at "implementing domestic defense system." He went on to say that it is important to share precious information aiming at setting up world peace and security.
