Police Bans Concert of Indonesia's Slank
VIVAnews - Indonesian notable rock & roll band Slank is not granted a permission to perform on-stage show at the Jakarta Fair ground, Kemayoran, North Jakarta. The performance is aimed at celebrating its 26th anniversary. However, the group of five will still proceed with the show at their homebase on Jalan Potlot, South Jakarta.
"It often occurs that our fans from the cities will come to celebrate the day. We don't want them to be upset, so we'll get on with the show on Potlot," said the drummer Bimbim on Wednesday, Dec 23.
The founder of the group disappointed with police's refusal. He said that the preparation for the upcoming concert has been final.
When pointed out that the refutation has to do with Slank's rapid campaign on anticorruption, Bimbim did not nod to the issue. "We're on the positive side," said Bimbim.
Slank is considered the icon of anticorruption campaign in Indonesia. They started the movement in 2006 as some representatives from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) called for the group to become anticorruption symbol.
