Credit Growth Figured at 15-20 Pct

VIVAnews - Bank Indonesia believes that the credit growth in 2010 would record 15-20 percent as the global economy recovers and the Indonesia's economic growth may hit 5.5 percent.

Bank Indonesia Deputy Governor Muliaman D Hadad acknowledged that the credit growth in the real sector was weak.

"The decrease was on foreign exchange credit due to downturn in the global economy. Meanwhile, the rupiah credit was still high with a value nearing 15 percent," said Muliaman on Tuesday, Jan 5, at Bank Indonesia.

Muliaman also said that banking credit agreement in 2009 that could not be put out worth Rp 250 trillion, dominantly in trading sector.

Given the situation, the Indonesian central bank viewed credit disbursement will be better due to the economic recovery.

"At least, development expenditure would contribute more this year. There will be foreign investment in addition to banking as well as the government expenditure," he said.
