VIVAnews - Seventy-year-old Siti Aminah astonished everyone in Mataram. The resident of Turen Malang who is living at Tresna Werdha Nursing Home has been willing to breastfeed a cat during the past six months.
Aminah said she felt sorry for the cat, who was abandoned by its mother. “I felt sorry for her. So I tried to breastfeed her and she didn’t refuse it. It keeps going until now,” she told the reporters in Mataram on Thursday, January 14.
Aminah’s love for the cat was also driven by her sad life story. She has been left for 20 years by her children. During the time, she was living with her husband in Sekotong sub district, West Lombok.
Since then, Aminah had been living poorly. After her husband died, she was taken care of by a philanthropist from Cakranegara, Mataram who later brought her to Tresna Werdha Nursing Home.
Although Aminah is no longer producing breast milk, the black and white cat seems to enjoy being breastfed by her. Aminah often puts the cat on her lap while stroking her. She even leaves some of her food for the cat.
Aminah’s odd behavior concerned the staffs at the nursing home. Once they took the cat away from her for hygienic reasons. Aminah protested the action by crying really hard until she was sick. “How could they throw her away? She’s still a baby. I love her,” Aminah said.
Now, she even keeps four cats in her room. The nursing home staffs have been trying to talk Aminah into stopping her peculiar behavior. They have not succeed until now.
