VIVAnews - The hike in the number of containers of imported goods mainly from China which packed Tanjung Priok Harbor, Jakarta, has been detected since November 2009.
"Starting in November, the number of containers entering Priok has increased in quantity," said President Director of the Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) Derek Pierson on Tuesday, Jan 19.
The volume of the containers rose 7-8 percent compared to the previous month. He predicted that the escalation in import volume after the China FTA was applied would double.
However, Derek said that up until today the number of containers has yet to go up significantly.
The JICT, said Derek, supports the early warning system the Directorate General of Customs and Excise applies to anticipate the China FTA.
