Dutch Govt to Invest in Aceh Water Projects

VIVAnews - The Dutch government will be investing in water projects in Aceh province. As noted in the webpage of the Indonesoan Capital Investment Coordinating Agency (BKPM), the investment will be worth US$200 million.

Chief of BKPM Gita Irawan Wirjawan is fully in support of the plan outlined by the Dutch government. "We are keeping up with the investment plan on water projects valuing US$200 million in Aceh," said Gita on Sunday, Jan 24.

She claimed that the post-tsunami investment on water projects will be of significance. Therefore, the BKPM will shortly prepare a schedule to realize the investment plan.

BKPM Deputy of Investment Planning Luky Eiko Wuryanto said the investment will be aiming at bettering the life of the Acehnese.

A partnership with the central government will be set up to undergrid the projects, which will be situating in the province's capital Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar before finally reaching Tamia, Aceh Jaya and western Aceh in the future.

Within the next 15 years, the water pipelining in Aceh is expected to link every region in Aceh.
