VIVAnews - After being verbally reported to Yogyakarta Police, Vice President Boediono would also be reported to the National Human Rights Commission.
Two former members of Yogyakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) for the period of 1999-2004, Cinde Laras Yulianto and Nanda Erwan said they had discussed the matter with the Head of the Commission.
“I’ve been facilitated by the Head of National Human Rights Commission, Ifdhal Kasim to report legal injustice treatment received by me and my other 16 friends,” Yulianto said on Friday, February 5.
Boediono will be reported for being allegedly responsible for a corruption case that involved 17 Yogyakarta DPRD members in 1999-2004 period, which is still being handled by the Supreme Court.
At the time, Boediono was serving as Finance Minister at the administration of President Megawati Soekarnoputri. Boediono was considered responsible for the imposition of PPH12 Income Tax to the members’ pension funds.
“I received the money after it was cut 15 percent. If it wasn’t, I would not accept it. So, it’s safe to say that it wasn’t corrupted. But in reality, I was found guilty by the court,” Yulianto said.
He and the other 16 members also feel legally victimized because the parties who imposed the tax, who are supposed to be the ones facing the allegation, were not prosecuted.
“I feel we are the victims of legal injustice. How could me and my friends, who received the funds after they were deducted by the tax, were ruled guilty, while those who enforce the tax, were let go. This isn’t fair,” Yulianto said.
He also said the initial report filed to the Yogyakarta Police was still a verbal one. However, a written report, which will also be forwarded to the Yogyakarta State Attorney, will be submitted shortly.
“We’ll let the police and the court analyze the legal basis of the report,” he said.
As reported, 40 former members of Yogyakarta DPRD for the period of 1999-2004 received Rp 75 million before the income tax. But, only 17 people were prosecuted because the other members were not part of the budget committee.
Meanwhile, the presidential spokesperson Yopie Hidayat questions the basis of the report.
According to him, the income tax is supposed to be imposed to every type of income. “Would that make Boediono guilty?”, Hidayat told VIVAnews on Thursday, February 4.
