Former KPK Chief Sentenced 18 Years in Prison

VIVAnews - The judges of the Central Jakarta District Court finally sentenced former chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission Antasari Azhar 18 years of imprisonment for the killing of director of PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran, Nasrudin Zulkarnaen.

Antasari according to judge Herry Suantoro proved violating article 55 section 1 (c) article 55 section 1 (c) article 340 of the Penal Code. Antasari proved prompting the murder of Nasrudin.

Other defendants, Chief Comm. Williardi Wizard, and Sigid Haryo Wibisono, were sentenced 12 and 15 years of imprisonment respectively.

Earlier, the prosecutors charged Antasari with death sentence.

Antasari was alleged of becoming the mastermind behind the premeditated murder. Prior to executing the plan, Antasari met the victim's third wife Rani Juliani at a hotel.

Nasrudin made use of the affair scandal to blackmail Antasari.

According to the prosecutor, Antasari, which was at that time Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission, was anxious. He then called on businessman Sigid Haryo Wibisono and police commissioner Wiliardi Wizard for help.

Nasrudin was shot on March 14, 2008. He died 22 hours later.
