VIVAnews - The Jakarta administration is planning to build mass rapid transport, according to Arif Rahmat, spokesperson of the MRT project management. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has made available the needed fund. The project may likely require around Rp 15 trillion (US$1.6 billion).
"However, the fund is not yet final because it's still worked on until early 2011. Clearly, the project will be materialized," said Arif today, June 25.
According to the initial plan, South-North corridors will be constructed by 2012. The MRT will start operating by November 2016, linking Lebak Bulus and Hotel Indonesia with a railway track.
Along the line, there will be 13 stations.
The line can be covered in 30 minutes using a six-coach electric train which can at once transport 1,200 passengers.
