VIVAnews - Jakarta Police detained a group of perpetrators committing illegal adulteration of LPG cylinders' contents in Tangerang, Banten.
“The suspects channeled the contents of three-kilogram subsidized gas cylinders to the twelve kilogram ones,” Jakarta Police’s Public Relations Division Head Comr. Boy Rafli said in Jakarta on July 2.
The police have also arrested 13 more people for taking out the content in three locations, Jalan Lembang (Ciledug sub district), Jalan AMD (Curug sub district) and Monggor village (Cisauk).
The suspects are Jwd, Tdi, Krn, the business owner and Syd, Sts, Msr, Atn, Adr, Ivn, Arf, Ays, Ddn and Rdi (employees and drivers).
“The contents weren't transferred according to procedures. That could potentially cause explosion or fire,” Rafli said.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Police’s Natural Resources Crime Unit Head Sr. Cmr. Eko Saputro said the illegal transfer was revealed after an investigation was conducted on the activity.
Besides capturing the suspects, the officials also seized several evidence that include 226 12-kg gas tanks, 515 3-kg gas tanks, 48 regulator hoses, two packs of seals, and two four wheel drives.
The suspects are subjected to Article 62 paragraph 1 juncto Article 10 (a and e) juncto Article 8 paragraph 1 (b and c) and Law No. 8/1999 on Consumer Protection and Article 32 paragraph 2 juncto Article 30 Law No.2 /1981 on Legal Metrology.
“They may be sentenced to five years of imprisonment or Rp 2 billion fine.”
