House Approves BI Operational Fund Increase

VIVAnews - The House of Representatives (DPR) Finance Commission approved Bank Indonesia's Annual Budget (ATBI) for the 2009 operational expenditure in the amount of Rp 4.66 trillion (US$424.5 million). The amount proposed was Rp 4.85 trillion.

"It is an increase of Rp 26.99 billion or 0.6 percent of the 2008 ATBI," said Deputy Head of Commission XI Endin AJ Soefihara during a meeting between Bank Indonesia and DPR Finance Commission at the Parliamentary complex, Jakarta, Dec 19.

The highest part of the budget is allocated for human resource management, amounting to Rp 3.39 trillion. The amount proposed was Rp 3.48 trillion. The amount approved is lower than the amount proposed due to income tax reduction.

The budget also includes Rp 492.05 billion for logistics management, and Rp 548.80 billion for implementation of supporting activities. Contingency cost is budgeted at Rp 225.7 billion. Proposed budget for possible losses of Rp 119.48 billion was rejected.

The Finance Commission also requested BI to report the ATBI realization in 2008 by early February 2009, report the 2009 first semester's realization in August 2009 and report the 2010 proposed ATBI plan by late August 2009.
