VIVAnews - The Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) claimed that the number of corruption cases in the archipelago during the first half of 2010 increased quite significantly as 176 cases were reported occurring in the central and provincial administrations. It is pointed out that state loses Rp 2.102 trillion.
As a comparison, 86 cases were detected in the first half of 2009, causing the state to suffer loss Rp 1.7 trillion.
"The rate of corruption in the first semester of this year rises 50 percent compared to the first semester of 2009," said ICW Coordinator of Public Investigation Division, Agus Sunaryanto, in Jakarta, today.
441 people were named suspects in the first half of this year, compared to last year's 217.
The top suspect list is dominated by those being in the office of commissioners and directors working in private companies amounting to 61 suspects.
Other perpetrators include division head (56), members of Regional House of Representatives (52), regional civil servants (35), and agency head (33).
