Stimulation Fund for 2009 Raised

VIVAnews - The government will raise stimulation fund for the real sector that was previously budgeted for Rp 12.5 trillion (US$1.1 billion) in the 2009 State Budget.

According to Head of Fiscal Policy at the Department of Finance Anggito Abimanyu, the government is still examining the chances to increase the fund. "We'll see the financing impact by January. If needed, the financing will be acquired from all sources," he said on Tuesday, Dec 23.

The government, he said, will review the overall postures of the 2009 State Budget by the coming January. However, whether or not the revision will affect the deficit, Abimanyu did not want to comment much.

"We are still evaluating the amount. All revenues, whether taxable or non-taxable, or even subsidy expenditures, are being calculated," he said.

The projected State Budget, he said, will depend on how deep the crisis penetrate the nation. The government will see the impact over the economic growth, exchange rate and oil prices.

"Oil prices may stop at certain price floor. We'll see the equilibrium price," said Abimanyu.

This is significant because it will affect inflation rate. Should inflation rate fall, interest rate will also decrease, which will finally boost purchasing power.

Meanwhile, market players leaning much on foreign markets will be affected by world's economic slowdown. The government will keep monitoring how the extent of the impact of the economic slowdown.

Head of National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Paskah Suzetta said that the government is always optimistic in dealing with possibilities. "We've planned everything well," he said.

He illustrated that the Indonesian trimonthly economic growth is excellent, ranging at 6.3 to 6.4 percent. According to Suzetta, the quality of the growth has been quite satisfying because it has provided employment which absorbed 2.5 to 3 million workers.
