VIVAnews - Chief of Indonesian Police Public Relations Division, Brig. Gen. I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana said Medan terrorist link has two of its members settled in Malaysia and South Thailand who are alleged of supplying ammunition and firearms.
"The Toni Togar group (Medan terrorists) maintains connection with two Indonesians in Malaysia and South Thailand who work on gaining ammunition and firearms," said Yoga in the Indonesian Police HQs today, Oct 29.
However, one out of two alleged gun suppliers named Taufik Marzuki aka Abu Sayyaf aka Abi aka Dik Gam aka Tarmizi has been arrested. The Aceh-born man was apprehended by the Malaysian police on September 29, 2010 and directly sent the alleged terrorist to Indonesia.
Yoga said that Taufik went to Malaysia on June 12, 2010, by registering his name under the name of Sulaiman Tarmizi on a fake Indonesian passport. "In Malaysia, Taufik hid his identity as a construction worker in Klang, Kelantan and Shah Ala," he said.
Based on his track record, Taufik was engaged in a military training on Jalin Mountain, Jantho, Aceh Besar in early 2010. He was one of the commanders of Aceh Islam Defenders Team (FPI) since February of 2009. He had as well participated in a military camp for FPI members at Darul Mujahidin Islamic Boarding School (pesantren) of Aceh.
In addition, Taufik has at times played a role as gun carrier for terrorist links of Aceh and Pamulang. "Taufik is Al-Qaeda commander of Serambi Mekkah in Pidie as well," said Yoga.
