VIVAnews - Five mountaineers were lost during a hike on Mount Tandikek, West Sumatra, during the New Year's Eve. An information circulated by Joint Secretariate of West Sumatra Mountaineers said the climbers were somewhere between Mount Tandikek and Mount Singgalang.
"The search and rescue (SAR) team have been deployed to the spot to evacuate the victims," said Depci Bivac, SAR spokesperson today, Jan 3.
The five climbers were sent an SOS at 2 am by the latest. Early estimate shows that the group lacked logistics supply to proceed with the journey.
The mountaineers had likely taken a Singgalang path after climbing Mount Tandikek.
He said, "The search and rescue team will start combing the area from two spots at Mount Tandikek and Mount Singgalang," he said.
