VIVAnews - The post-tsunami recovery process in Mentawai is estimated to require Rp 65.5 billion worth of fund. The rehabilitation and reconstruction process is targeted to be completed by 2013.
"The process will be started this year (2011)," said Chief of Provincial Disaster Management Agency of West Sumatra, Harmensyah, today, Jan 6.
The government will dish out Rp 13.9 billion to redevelop the social life of the affected people.
"The fund will be shared for rebuilding fisheries and agricultural sectors in the area," he said.
Earlier, the emergency response period in Mentawai was extended to December 31, 2010. However, the Mentawai administration called for another extension due to unfinished construction of temporary homes for the victims.
