VIVAnews - Indonesian Minister of Information and Communications Tifatul Sembiring warns BlackBerry manufacturer RIM over several issues considered as inappropriate mainly on pornographic contents. The minister will ban BlackBerry services in no time should the manufacturer refuses to say yes to the demand.
"Ban over services that are against the law is a must, although unpopular, in pursuit of better respect toward the country's regulations," wrote Tifatul on his Twitter account @tifsembiring on Sunday night, Jan 9.
The following are the minister's demands over RIM:
1. RIM should look up to and obey regulations applied in Indonesia, concerning mainly with Law No.36/1999, Law No.11/2008 and Law No.44/2008.
2. RIM is called on to set up a representative office in Indonesia by virtue of the inflating BlackBerry users in the country.
3. RIM service center Indonesia must be available to facilitate users in the archipelago.
4. Fair work opportunities for the locals must be made possible at RIM Indonesia.
5. RIM is requested to use more Indonesian contents regarding especially with softwares.
6. RIM should activate software blocking against porn sites.
7. RIM servers or repeaters must be available in Indonesia so as to facilitate legal officers to look into data of alleged criminals including corrupt officials.
