VIVAnews - A number of interfaith figures blame the government over moral, political, economic weaknesses that the nation experience today. "All religious figures have expressed their minds. If they despise us, how then do they see us?" said former Chairman of Muhammadiyah, Syafii Maarif today, Jan 10.
On the other hand, Bhikkhu Pannyavaro went on to say that moral breakdown has been anywhere that leaders can no longer be honest to the people.
"If religious leaders stay in silence, lies can be accepted as culture," the monk said.
Those figures attended in the event including Ahmad Syafii Maarif, Andreas A Yewangoe, Din Syamsuddin, Bhikkhu Pannyvaro, Mgr D Situmorong, Shalahuddin Wahid, and I Nyoman Udayana Sangging.
