VIVAnews - Chairman of Golkar Party Central Board, Priyo Budi Santoso, said in a statement that the party is not buying the issue on the impeachment of the president.
"The right to state an opinion is not always concerned with impeachment. [Golkar] may exercise the right. However, if it deals with impeachment, Golkar won't buy the issue," said Priyo at the Parliamentary complex today, Jan 14.
The impeachment issue surfaces as a judicial review which was proposed by three lawmakers over Article 184 Section 4 of Law No.27/2009 had been approved.
"Impeachment has huge impact. We're not any closer to the idea of drumming out the President," said Priyo. Nonetheless, the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) called on the government to investigate the Bank Century case seriously.
Chairing Century Monitoring Team, Priyo emphasizes DPR's discontent over the works of law enforcers in looking into the Century case. The monitoring team indicates that forensic auditing on the Century case by an independent team must be carried out.
He signals that any member of Golkar Party has the right to state an opinion.
"But the [Golkar Party] faction has yet to discuss about the matter. We'll give the needed guidance for our members in time," said Priyo.
Earlier, Chairman of Golkar Party Faction, Setya Novanto, said the Right to State an Opinion is not a medium for political bidding. Setya went on by saying that the statement expressed by a Golkar politician Bambang Soesatyo does not represent the views of Golkar Party Faction.
