VIVAnews - Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa said that up until December 2010 the number of Indonesian citizens working abroad reached 3,294,009, 60 percent of which are employed in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
"They are spread across nations worldwide in Asia, America, Africa, Europe and Australia," said Marty last night.
The Indonesian migrant workers dot Africa by 4,000; Europe, 59 ribu; America, 130 thousand; Malaysia, 1.4 million; Asia (but Malaysia) 611 thousand; Pacific region, 55 thousand; Saudi Arabia, 641 thousand; Middle East (except Saudi Arabia) 379 thousand.
Marty said future improvements and protection toward Indonesian workers in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia may affect more to the workers earning a living in different countries. "Better protection toward the Indonesian citizens working overseas in at least the two countries (Malaysia and Saudi Arabia) would result in better outcomes," said Marty.
