VIVAnews - Intruders broke in at a suite room of Lotte Hotel in Seoul, South Korea, last week and stole important information from a laptop owned by an Indonesian official.
Up until today, no identification has been made on the perpetrators. Local media Yonhap said quoting an anonymous official that the culprits are part of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
Nonetheless, the Korean intelligence agency denied the report. "[We] have not done such a thing. The report is not true," the NIS agent said today, Feb 21, as quoted by Yonhap.
The intruders -- two men and one woman, all presumed to be Asian -- were believed to have illegally entered the hotel room in an attempt to steal classified information on Indonesia's planned arms trade with South Korea, according to local police.
The Indonesian envoys were assigned by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to follow up on an economic agreement which has been signed by Mr Yudhoyono and Korean President Lee Myung-bak in December 2010.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa, Industry Minister MS Hidayat, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Chief of Coordinating Agency of Capital Investment Gita Wirjawan, and Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro were amongst the Indonesian delegates.
Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Political, Justice and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto said no classified information on military issues were saved in the laptops.
