VIVAnews - State oil and gas Pertamina still imports as much as 10.28 million kiloliters of Premium fuel and 4.23 million kiloliters of Pertamax fuel each year following the low domestic production of 88 octane and 92 octane fuel.
Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan said the nation expects to use 20.86 million kiloliters of Premium fuel this year in total. "46 percent of [Premium fuel] are still imported," she said today in Jakarta, March 7. Pertamax domestic need reaches 4.69 million kiloliters from which 4.23 million kiloliters are still imported.
Karen believes the increase in domestic oil capacity, which is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2013, will improve Premium and Pertamax production. "It will require US$2.5 million," she said.
Pertamax production will get to 4.47 million kiloliters by 2014 while Premium will produce 12.31 million kiloliters.
Private cars will use 46 percent of the production while motorbikes will take up to 39 percent of fuel consumption.
Kerosene use has been reduced to -2.35 percent. "Less usage of kerosene is due to the kerosene-to-gas conversion program," he said.
