VIVAnews - Several provinces witness fuel scarcity in the past few days. Insufficient fuel supplies in Sei Siak storehouse following delayed return of a fuel tanker have resulted in fuel shortage in Pekanbaru, Riau. The depot normally channels fuel to 80 gas stations in Pekanbaru and its surrounding areas.
Up until last night, fuel shortage is still everywhere in Riau. 12 out of 13 monitored gas stations were out of stock.
"There's no more Premium fuel. The stations only provide Pertamax Plus," a gas station officer told VIVAnews.
Pertamina claimed Premium supplies have been optimized through Teluk Kabung Terminal in Padang, West Sumatra. 16 fuel trucks have been made available since Friday.
Pertamina will also distribute fuel from Tanjung Ubang Terminal in Riau Islands through seas and rivers using tankers. "On Sunday, 6th of March, Pertamina delivered 1,600 kiloliters of fuel," said Pertamina Vice President of Corporate Communications, Mochamad Harun.
Moreover, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, has witnessed fuel scarcity since mid February. Harun said the situation was due to postponed coming of a Pertamina fuel tanker following a shipwreck which got in the way of the fuel vessel.
