VIVAnews - The Indonesian government ensures availability of fuel supplies in 118 gas stations in Riau and Pontianak following an emphasis that fuel prices will be maintained at the current level.

Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan said the state oil and gas company raises supplies from two depots to the areas which were previously reported of lacking fuel supply.

"Fuel supply in Pontianak reaches 4,300 kiloliters," Karen addressed a press conference today, March 9.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Darwin Zahedy Saleh moreover stated the government will not revise fuel prices.

Head of Downstream Oil and Gas Regulator (BPH Migas), Tubagus Haryono, said several solutions are being prepared to deal with distribution issues.

"BPH Migas will intensify the enforcement of law so as to avoid fuel from being largely accumulated," he said.

Earlier, Indonesian Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa claimed that despite soaring oil prices, the government has yet any plan to raise subsidized fuel prices.

In his opinion, inflation rate may be higher if fuel prices are increased although fuel control policy is issued.
