VIVAnews - Panel of judges at the Jakarta Selatan District Court declined an exception that defendant of terrorism case Cleric Abu Bakar Baashir proposed.
"All charges have been in line with the valid administration. The demurrer proposed by the defendant and his legal advisers is declined," said Chairman of the Panel of Judges Herri Swantoro today, March 10.
Prosecutors said 15 witnesses have been listed to testify before the court.
"The 15 witnesses wrote letters to us, saying that they prefer teleconference to on-court session," the prosecutors told panel of Judges.
However, the request was defied by the convict's lawyers. "If those witnesses attend any of the court sessions, we can see whether or not they are under a heavy pressure," said Munarman, one of the lawyers.
Earlier, prosecutors charged Baashir under Law on Antoterrorism with maximum sentences of either life imprisonment or death penalty.
