VIVAnews - The State Budget has allocated oversized amount of pension fund which may result in the lack of financing.
In response to the issue, the Indonesian Ministry of Finance calls on PT Taspen (savings and insurance of civil servants) to carry out thorough assessment over the pension program.
State Minister of State-owned Enterprises, Mustafa Abubakar, said Taspen's challenges are to cover Rp8.3 trillion of financing due to salary revision between 2007 and 2010.
Deputy Finance Minister, Anny Ratnawati, said pension budget is subject to annual increase. In 2011, the Indonesian government spent almost Rp50 trillion for pension budget.
"It greatly affects the State Budget. 10 years from now, [the State Budget] will have considerable load. The pension program must be completely reviewed," said Anny.
On the other hand, issues on unfunded liability appear because employees' basic wages have been subjected to rapid rises at between 10 percent and 15 percent. Meanwhile, old age allowance is calculated referring to the latest amount received prior to a recipient's retirement.
