VIVAnews - 87 percent of around 40 million private entrepreneurs of micro and small-sized firms in Indonesia have yet to get access to banking loans.

"Indonesia requires better economic growth which allows more spaces to low-income groups," said Bank Andara Chief of Business Development Officer, Don Johnston, on Wednesday.

Strong micro financial sector is crucial as it enables banks to provide access to micro and small-sized entrepreneurs. "It is surely doable as long as focuses on actuality, extent and improved services are maintained," he said.

Bank Andara now expands through internet and mobile-based services called Andara Link. The program is expected to serve 200 micro financial firms by 2011.

Bank Andara has disbursed Rp200 billion of capital investment. And yet, it claims that the bank has been the first apex bank in Indonesia focusing on micro credit which embraces rural credit banks, cooperatives and other non-bank micro credit firms.
