VIVAnews – President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, or SBY, stated that his family members will not run for president in the 2014 General Election. So far several parties have said that First Lady Ani Yudhoyono is ample to bid in presidential competition from Democratic Party for the upcoming election.
“My name is SBY. My title is RI’s sixth president. I’m not a president candidate for 2014 election. My wife and children will not run for president either,” said Yudhoyono when delivering a general lecture in Young Leaders Forum in Jakarta today.
Yudhoyono emphasized that he was not preparing either his family or anybody to take over his position as Indonesian president, as soon as his term ends in 2014. “Currently I’m not preparing anybody to become presidential candidate for 2014 election. Let the people talk in 2014,” he said.
Some time ago, survey institution IndoBaromenter placed Ani as one of the most popular presidential runner for 2014 General Election. She is at the 6th position, above PAN General Chairperson concurrently Coordinating Minister for Economy Hatta Rajasa.
Presidential Spokesperson Julian Aldrin Pasha then explained that the survey was carried out without the acknowledgement of President Yudhoyono’s family. He went on that the candidacy of Ani Yudhoyono as president did not come from the palace’s ring, but rather personal opinion of people outside the Cikeas family.
