VIVAnews - Another migrant worker of Indonesian nationality is facing a death sentence in Saudi Arabia. This time, the person sitting in the death row is called Karsih binti Ocin. Her family received the final words from Karsih in around 2007. That year, she told the family that the Saudi court imposed death penalty upon her under murder charges.
After the long period of no reports, Karsih's family decided to file a report to the National Agency for Assigning and Protecting Indonesian Migrant Workers today.
The family's spokesperson, Subarna, who only uses one name, told the Agency that Karsih went to Saudi Arabia 13 years ago around 1998-1999. Within the first eight years, days passed without the family's being sent terrible news. However, out of the blue, Karsih made a contact to her mom who resided in Karawang, West Java, in 2007. "Mom, I'm subject to decapitation," said Subarna quoting Karsihs's mother.
The beheading was a result of an accusation saying that Karsih had poisoned her employer's child. The story went that one day Karsih served three bowls of noodles for the employer's family. One out of the served food was for the employer's child.
Minutes after the child ate the noodles, he suffered from pain that was generally associated with poisoning sympthoms. "The child finally dies," said Subarna. Karsih was blamed for the incident.
Karsih's family did not really know how to react toward Karsih's accounts. They later called on PT RKA, the company held responsible of Karsih's employment, for more information.
Subarna said the family had asked for confirmation from the company for no more than six times. The reports were made to no avail. "They were mad at us," said Subarna.
None of further notices from Saudi Arabia as to how Karsih is now doing is ever delivered. The list of those Indonesian migrant workers waiting in the death row that VIVAnews gathered earlier indeed shows that Karsih's name is available.
