VIVAnews - The Jakarta Police Department will sweep clean traders of illegal goods who run their businesses through online stores and other commercial district in Jakarta such as Glodok. Every item offered without manuals of Indonesian version will be considered illegal.
"It's common that the trade is done through online transactions. However, Kaskus is not the only place," said police spokesperson Adj. Chief. Comm. Sandi Nugroho as he mentioned a well-known e-commerce forum, Kaskus.
He furthermore said that more targets of surveillance have been set up. "We can't say how it is to reveal a case," he said.
Earlier, Jakarta Chief of Public Relations Division, Chief. Comm. Baharudin said that the case involving Randy is not seen as personal interest. Randy Lester Samu and his friend Dian Yudha Negara dealt with the police after being caught selling iPad through an online e-commerce site.
The two youths offered two units of iPad tagged at Rp6.6 million (16 GB) and Rp8.5 million (64 GB). The police arrested them for allegedly violating Article 8 section 1 alphabet J of Law No.8/1999 on Consumer Protection and Article 52 juncto article 32 of Law No.36/1999 on Telecommunication.
